Selknam Magic Stone Slab
Hand-painted stone, polished leaf shape gemstone, acrylic paints, gold oil paint.

The colors are inspired by the Selknam limited palette. Anthropologist Anne Chapman wrote that they painted their bodies in dark red, black, white and at times also ochre. Red and ochre came from soil, black from coal and white from grinding shells -all pigments were mixed with animal grease.
